KINGSTON, NY - Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger has appointed Sugely M. Melenciano-Weed as Youth Director, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature. With an extensive background in youth program management and community engagement, Melenciano-Weed brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to the holistic development of young people in our community, to the position.
Melenciano-Weed joins Ulster County from her recent role as Program Director for the Newburgh YouthBuild Program, where she was responsible for comprehensive program management and strategic planning, as well as driving the success of participants via supervision of counseling, case management, educational activities, leadership development, and civic engagement opportunities. In addition to her role at Newburgh YouthBuild, Melenciano-Weed has been actively involved in community engagement as an Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Creative Education, orchestrating community events and workshops, managing outreach initiatives, and fostering relationships with community partners to enhance public awareness and support for the organization.
Melenciano-Weed’s career also includes experience as the Program Director at the Everette Hodge Center for Family of Woodstock, where she managed a diverse array of programs, ensured compliance with legal and organizational guidelines, and provided oversight to staff and project managers. Additionally, in her previous roles at St. John Bosco Child & Family Services and the Rivera Memorial Foundation, she directed after-school and summer programs and managed residential group home operations.

Melenciano-Weed holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Manhattan Community College. She is also equipped with numerous certifications, including Trauma Informed Care, OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid/AED, English/Spanish Interpretation, and Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
In addition to her professional achievements, Melenciano-Weed has been an active leader in community service. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Ulster County Youth Board, Board President of Ulster Corps, and Board Secretary for Health Care is a Human Right, and Councilmember for Mid-Hudson Energy Transition.
