“The people of Ulster County are heartbroken over the horrific shootings in Orlando. These senseless acts of violence tear at the very fabric of our nation and Ulster County stands in solidarity with our fellow Americans in Orlando. And, as we come to grips with the magnitude of this disgraceful act of terrorism and hate, we are dedicated to honoring and supporting all affected by this tragedy. Flags have been lowered in Ulster County out of respect for the victims, and I have directed our critical incident response team to work in coordination with the Mental Health Association in Ulster County to be available for anyone in need. They will be located at the LGBTQ Center on the corner of Wall and John Streets in Kingston at 5:30pm this evening and will be made available going forward as needed.”
