The Ulster County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA includes all Deputies, Detectives, Sergeants and Dispatchers at the sheriff's office. Once adopted by the Legislature, all Ulster County bargaining units will have a contract.

KINGSTON, N.Y. – Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association, representing all Deputies, Detectives, Sergeants and Dispatchers at the Sheriff's Office, announced today a tentative five-year contract agreement. Once the contract is approved by the Ulster County Legislature, all Ulster County bargaining units will be under contract. 

“I am proud that we have reached this agreement with the PBA, and that Ulster County will soon have contracts with all of our bargaining units,” County Executive Pat Ryan said. “This new contract recognizes the hard work of our employees, especially given the challenges that they have faced since the outbreak of COVID-19.”

“I am very pleased with the collective bargaining agreement that the Ulster County PBA, the Ulster County Executive and the Sheriff agreed to,” Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa said.  “The Deputies of this Office, working through an opioid epidemic, a once in a century pandemic, new state laws, and current historical events, are dedicated to the safety of the residents of Ulster County and will continue to be keepers of the peace in these unique times. The commitment to enhanced training and building community relationships are the cornerstone of our continued success.”

“We are pleased we have reached this agreement,” President of the Ulster County Sheriff’s PBA Collin Reynolds said. “It helps recognize the selfless work our men and women do on a daily basis to serve the residents and visitors of Ulster County.”

The five-year agreement covers the period January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2024. The County employees represented by PBA will receive a $1,250 off-base signing bonus, increases in the county’s share of health insurance costs in retirement, and raises across the board to help with both recruitment and retention. This agreement is part of County Executive Ryan’s commitment to support and recognize the hard work of Ulster County’s frontline workers who have stepped up during the course of the pandemic. 

Last month, more than 90% of voting PBA membership ratified the contract agreement. The agreement will now go before the Ulster County Legislature for adoption.
