Kingston, N.Y. – Ulster County and local Veterans invite the public to begin the Memorial Day weekend by honoring Ulster County’s Veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country at a solemn candlelight ceremony at the Ulster County Memorial Roll of Honor located in front of the County Office Building tomorrow, May 24th at 8:00pm (rain date Friday, May 25th). The Memorial Roll of Honor lists all of the military conflicts, beginning with the Revolutionary War, and the names of Ulster County Veterans who died in combat.
Michael P. Hein, Ulster County Executive
“We must never forget the sacrifices of our brave Veterans and I invite everyone to join us in remembrance at the start of Memorial Day weekend,” said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. “The candlelight ceremony has quickly become a tradition in Ulster County and a solemn reminder that those we lost are not forgotten and our unpayable debt to them remains.”
This year an additional three names were added to the Ulster County Memorial Roll of Honor as further research has revealed three additional servicemembers from Ulster County who were killed in action in service to our country. Please check the Ulster County website http://ulstercountyny.gov/ in the event of inclement weather to learn if the ceremony has been postponed.
