Strong Response To Job Fair Connecting Young Adults With Employment Opportunities
Kingston, N.Y. – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein lauded the success of the 10th Annual Ulster County Young Adult Job Fair held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Andy Murphy Midtown Center in Kingston. Over 40 businesses and 189 students from 5 high schools, PTECH: Hudson Valley Pathways Academy, and Ulster BOCES participated in the event to promote jobs in healthcare, banking, recreation, retail and manufacturing for young people ages 16 to 24.
“I am pleased at the tremendous level of participation by both young people and businesses from across the county at this year’s job fair,” said County Executive Mike Hein. “I would like to thank the Ad Hoc Committee of the Ulster County Workforce Development Board and the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training (OET) for doing an amazing job with the Young Adult Job Fair. The Young Adult Job Fair brings together young people seeking to learn new skills and work in occupations that they may choose to turn into careers, with businesses willing to provide them with experience right here in Ulster County. There are many great opportunities still available and I urge youth still seeking employment to contact the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training Young Adult Employment Program at 845-340-3170. The OET does an outstanding job connecting youth to the resources and opportunities they need to grow into tomorrow’s workforce.”
Any young adult who was unable to attend the job fair can still apply for available positions by submitting their resumes directly to participating businesses, a list of which is located at https://www.ulsterworks.com/youth-and-young-adults. If applicants need help or advice on who to contact at a company or how to apply for a job they should contact Janet Rigaux or Faith Golden of Ulster County’s Office of Employment and Training Young Adult Employment Program at 845-340-3170.
