Kingston, NY – September is National Preparedness Month (NPM) and Ulster County Executive Mike Hein recognizes this important initiative and encourages residents to plan and be prepared in the case of a disaster or crisis.  This nationwide effort which was started by the Ready Campaign is now in its fourteenth year, encouraging households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies.  The 2017 National Preparedness Month theme is “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.,” reminding everyone that “We should all take action to prepare!

County Executive Commends Sheriff Paul VanBlarcum for Incorporating Green Vehicles into the Department’s FleetKingston, N.Y. - This week Ulster County Executive Mike Hein was pleased to join Sheriff Paul VanBlarcum to accept delivery of the first two “green fleet” vehicles to be used by the Sherriff’s Office.  The two new Ford Fusion Hybrids will replace traditional sedans used for administrative and investigative work. The new vehicles have two to three times the fuel efficiency (mpg) as their replacement vehicles.
